Job Description

​​Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a Field Service Representative located in Scarborough, Ontario.  The Field Service Representative will be responsible to supervisor/complete Commissioning, Preventive Maintenance Service, Repair and Retrofit work assigned to him/her while ensuring quality workmanship and high productivity performance.


  • Responsible for running large commissioning and maintenance jobs with minimal supervision
  • Perform work assignments in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations Section 28.1, 28.2 and in accordance with the Black & McDonald Safety Manual
  • Adhere to all Divisional and Company guidelines, procedures and policies at all times
  • Maintain and protect all company property, including but not limited to vehicles and tools, which has been assigned for your use
  • Provide technical assistance to other field staff when required
  • Provide assistance to the dispatcher with any questions that arise while assigning work
  • Take part in the regular on-call schedule and work according to the Divisional Guidelines for such work
  • Ensure that schedules (time distribution) are maintained as dispatched instruction and /or Job/Contract Start-up instruction.  Any deviations from those instructions outlined are to be communicated with your respective Job Supervisor, Contract Supervisor and Service Coordinator.
  • Ensure that all reporting forms (including timesheets, #4 forms, warranty forms, extra to contract forms, etc.) are completed in their entirety including the appropriate customer signatures where necessary
  • Continually sell the services of Black  &  McDonald, beyond the Service Division, to all customers who you have contact with
  • Prepare technical reports

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years' experience as a Field Service Technician is required
  • Minimum of 2 years Supervisory experience is required
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Member of OACETor PEO is an asset
  • Industrial Electricians License is an asset
  • Knowledge of Work Protection Codes
  • G Class Drivers Licence or better
  • English language skills essential; effective oral and written communication skills are required 
  • Computer Skills:
    • MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • ETAP, Auto CAD, Micro-Station
    • EnerVista
