Job Description

Main Duties


  • Design  of electric utility distribution system modifications and upgrades  
  • Design of joint use/make ready projects for telecommunications and electric utilities
  • Occasionally, participate in the acquisition of on-site field data to accomplish the design
  • Follow quality practice and procedures by self-checking all work products and checking the work of others as required.
  • Follow safety procedures.
  • Produce and distribute construction work order and job packets.
  • Communicate with Designers and Engineers
  • Perform Wind Loading and Pole Loading Analysis Studies using PLS CADD or O-Calc Software
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Time management; prioritizing work and documenting tasks
  • Prepare Make Ready Construction Prints, Work Orders and Summary Bill of Materials
  • Assist in development of pole analysis documents
  • Strive to increase efficiencies in design department processes
  • Train department staff on electrical standards and technology

Employment Requirements


  • 4 year degree in engineering or 4 yeqrs of electric utility distribution experience
  • At least two years of experience with Computer Aided Design Software
  • Requires strong time management of work activities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in GIS, advanced CADD or graphical representation.
  • Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization and with outside clients.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work with others and to handle multiple tasks
  • Willing to travel occasionally required
  • Experience in the Telecommunications or Utilities industries a plus
  • Experience working with Pole Loading Analysis  Software such as O-Calc or PLS  cadd desired
  • Experience with ESRI ArcMap software a plus
  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD desired
  • Experience with NESC code compliance desired
