Job Description

​Position Summary

Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a Project Manager – FMO located in Toronto, Ontario.  The Project Manager will plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate various facility related projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.  Emphasis is placed on estimating, reporting and monitoring progress, planning and scheduling, and dealing with project change. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review the design of assigned construction projects; directs the preparation and/or review of plans, specifications, estimates, and contracts for assigned projects
  • Assume responsibility for assigned services and activities related to the management of specific facilities projects including design, bid, construction, and related functions and professional contracts to ensure completion of projects within budgetary, regulatory, and time constraints
  • Prepare and submit project budget estimates
  • Manage the cost process from starting point to invoicing
  • Plan and prepare project schedules, milestones and monitor progress against established schedules
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Develop and implement quality control programs
  • Represent company on matters such as business services and union matters
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients
  • Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff
  • Regularly conduct status update meetings with the client

Education & Skill Requirements

  • Possess a PMP designation
  • A College or University degree in Construction Management or relative field of study
  • Minimum of five (5) years of similar Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of operational characteristics, services, and activities of facilities construction program
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of construction management
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft suite
  • AutoCad experience would be advantageous
