Job Description

Summary of Position:

Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a Relief 2nd Class Stationary Engineer for a steam plant located in the Toronto Ontario area. The successful candidate will fulfill various relief, 24/7 shift rotations based on customer needs and availability.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate steam boilers, air compressors, water softeners, air dryers, pumps, and fans
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the steam plant
  • Perform all tasks related to the safe and efficient operation of the steam boiler plant including repairs and maintenance
  • Perform routine inspection and testing of equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Perform minor repair and general maintenance duties
  • Document air compressor readings, all plant steam produced and consumption, gas consumption
  • Track and log all gas, water, and hydro readings
  • Performs water analysis on boilers
  • Complete daily log report
  • Monitor and maintain water treatment; boiler systems
  • Test run the safety and standby equipment weekly, UPS, generator testing
  • Provide access and assistance to sub-trades as required

Education & Skill Requirements:

  • Must possess a 2nd Class Power Engineer certificate
  • Successfully be cleared in a security back ground investigation is mandatory
  • Critical environment, experience preferred
  • Bending and lifting required; lifting under 30 kg
  • Must be able to climb stairs and to work on a ladder or scaffold as required
  • Good computer skills
  • Be available for 24/7 on call duty (relief)
