We are currently recruiting for a dynamic Associate Business Development Representative to join our team in the Vancouver area. Reporting to the Sales Leader and a part of the National Sales group, the Associate Business Development Representative plays an important role in new business development for the BC Service Division.  

This opportunity is ideal for a person who desires to become a sales professional.  Here at Black & McDonald we will train, coach and mentor the appropriate candidate to ensure long term success in new business development. If you are an ambitious and entrepreneurial-minded individual who would like to become a professional sales person, we want to speak with you.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Researching, cold calling and setting up meetings with potential clients
  • Utilize proven sales methods to identify and solicit potential clients for future service work
  • Meet with and develop impressionable relationships with potential clients to successfully understand their needs and specific requirements
  • Assess potential client needs and resources and recommend the appropriate solution
  • Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of internal staff and customers
  • Work with Project Representative and provide input where non contractual HVAC related services must be tailored to suit clients' needs
  • Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to potential clients
  • Prepare sales contracts under the direction of the Sales Team
  • Price the agreement according to the company pricing standards
  • Prepare start-up documents for set up and attend start up meetings with new clients
  • Continue personal professional development
  • Participate in department planning meetings as necessary
  • Keep internal software and database up to date with sales activities

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Determination and ambition as cold calling and prospecting will represent a significant amount of your daily effort
  • Demonstrable communication skills either through work experience and/or education and would like to learn a more entrepreneurial role
  • Past sales experience would be considered an asset but not a pre-requisite
  • Experience working in the trades would be considered an asset but not a pre-requisite
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Business or Marketing degree would be considered an asset but not a pre-requisite
  • Competency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Competency in a web based sales tracking software such as Sales Force
  • Availability to travel from time to time as required
  • Passion for sales and developing long-lasting business relationships
  • High degree of self-motivation and resilience
