Associate Business Development Representative

Job Description

​Black & McDonald is currently looking for the ideal candidate to enroll in our comprehensive business development training program complete with ongoing mentoring and support. The successful ambitious applicant will have the opportunity to advance rapidly within the organization and to benefit financially. The Associate Business Development Representative will be assigned a geographical or vertical market and will be responsible for prospecting potential new clients in the assigned market, uncovering needs, providing solutions and entering into service agreements with new clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Researching, cold calling and setting up meetings with potential clients
  • Utilize proven sales methods to identify and solicit potential clients for future service work
  • Meet with and develop impressionable relationships with potential clients to successfully understand their needs and specific requirements
  • Assess potential client needs and resources and recommend the appropriate solution
  • Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of internal staff and customers
  • Work with Project Representative and provide input where non contractual HVAC related services must be tailored to suit clients' needs
  • Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to potential clients
  • Prepare sales contracts under the direction of the Sales Team
  • Price the agreement according to the Company pricing standards
  • Prepare start-up documents for set up and attend start-up meetings with new clients
  • Continue personal professional development
  • Participate in divisional planning meetings as necessary
  • Keep internal software and database up to date with sales activities
Desired Skills & Experience

  • Past sales experience would be considered an asset but not a prerequisite
  • Experience working in the trades would be considered an asset but not a prerequisite
  • Business or Marketing education would be considered an asset but not a prerequisite
  • 1-3 years' experience in sales and preparing proposals or contracts
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Available to travel on occasion as required
  • Competency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Competency in web based sales tracking software such as SalesForce
