Position Summary

Based in Calgary, the Traffic Signal Technician will assist with the daily repair and maintenance of Highway and Municipal electrical roadway lighting and traffic signals projects. They will liaise with tradespersons, coordinators, managers, and site superintendent personnel in order to accomplish project milestones in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections to ensure all roadway lighting and traffic signals meet contractual requirements and specifications.
  • Coordinate quality assurance and quality control issues and ensure appropriate quality standards are consistently upheld.
  • Identify areas of improvement, generate alternative solutions, and prepare reports detailing the evaluation and recommended solutions.

    Education & Skill Requirements
  • IBEW member (or will be required to join upon hire)
  • 2-3 years' experience with maintenance and repair of roadway lighting
  • Class 3 license with airbrakes
  • Knowledge of the Alberta Traffic Manual and basic traffic signal design (and related acts/legislation)
  • Knowledge of OSHA legislation
  • Knowledge of roadway and traffic signal electrical maintenance operations
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment and tools necessary for installation (i.e. Bucket Truck)
  • IMSA Level 1 and 2 is an asset
  • Proficient computer skills – Basic Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Able to work on the occasional weekend/overtime, and on call as required.
  • Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Test will be required.
