Summary of Position:

Reporting to the QA Director, this exciting opportunity will provide direct responsibility for establishing, maintaining and assuring the effective execution of the PGR Quality Program and for performance of all verification activities such as monitoring, inspection, and surveillance required by the Program. The Quality Assurance Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining the Quality System Program documents. The Quality Assurance Manager has been has been delegated authority by the QA Director and has the organizational freedom and authority to identify quality problems; initiate, recommend or provide solutions to quality problems; verify implementation of solutions; assure that further processing, delivery, installation or use is controlled until proper disposition of the nonconformance or unsatisfactory condition has occurred. The successful candidate will reside the Power Generation Regional office located at 81 Osborne Road, Courtice.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Keep the Quality Assurance Director abreast of the quality matters of PGR region.
  • Develop, administer and implement the Quality Management System within PGR Region for nuclear clients
  • Maintain quality system documents for PGR quality programs
  • Scheduling & performance of quality assurance audits for PGR both internal and external
  • Provide QA indoctrination and training to the  QA/QC department and  PRG staff
  • Recruit QA/QC personnel and oversee development and maintenance of QA/QC staff competence in required areas
  • Manage the day to day activities of the  QA Department  and  staff, including receipt , in-process and final inspection and test activities
  • Act as the Quality Management Representative for PGR
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Quality Management System to Senior management
  • Maintain an effective continuous improvement program
  • Liaison with regulatory and jurisdictional authorities including the client representatives regarding all aspects of the Quality Management System
  • Participate in the tender and contract review process
  • Develop employees skills to ensure established objectives and goals are met
  • Participate in periodic and annual employee reviews and appraisals to ensure employees know what is expected and how they can contribute.
  • Ensure quality systems, processes and documentation employed on site comply with Corporate Policy
  • Guide PGR region  through the deployment of quality systems and certification processes, including any audits
  • Ensure effective methods and instructions are in place for Quality Planning and development.
  • Liaise with Purchasing and Operations to establish quality requirements and ensure that suppliers and sub-contractors are rated as to their ability to conform
  • Responsible to ensure that an effective corrective action program is in place.
Desired Skills & Experience

Education & Skill Requirements

  • Successful completion of Secondary School with Diploma;
  • Minimum of 2 years college or university in a technical related discipline;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience at a QA management level
  • Minimum 5 years QA/QC experience;
  • Must have experience working with regulatory bodies in regard to quality and compliance issues
  • Sound knowledge of ASME Code Section I/II/III/V/VIII/IX, B31 series, CSA  N286, CSA Z299 and CSA B51, CSA W59 and 47
  • Qualification as a Pressure Boundary Lead Audit is an asset
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Computer Literacy; MS Word or other operating platforms
