Job Description

Position Summary

Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a Technical Training Specialist located in Markham, Ontario to partner with the business by assisting in the facilitation and development of high-quality training curricula.  This role will provide facilitation services to all lines of business and includes theory and technical training.  Courses are delivered in a state –of-the-art facility located at our National Learning Centre in Markham, Ontario.  Supported by a high-performing team of professionals, this role has immediate access to the technology support functions, business leaders and subject matter experts. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of training materials and related resources
  • Facilitate technical training courses for new and existing staff, according to business needs and with the highest quality
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, business partners, and peers to align training development with desired outcomes and ensure all material is relevant, accurate, and engaging
  • Creatively bring ideas to life by developing a full range of content for various delivery methods
  • Share responsibility for identifying and applying appropriate instructional design techniques based on internal business unit objectives and/or learning strategy
  • Analyze and utilize participant feedback, comments, and recommendations to enhance learning solutions
  • Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm in order to engage a diverse group of adult learners
  • Assist in the development of training project plans including timelines, milestones, and accountabilities
  • Providing training and support to individuals and groups of users on the technology core application
  • Update existing training materials by incorporating technical and procedural changes to maintain currency of course materials
  • Supports the evaluation of training by observing, measuring, testing, reviewing and analyzing training to ensure that learning objectives are met effectively

 Education & Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience facilitating training content and courses for adult learners
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, with experience in competency and needs analysis
  • Experience in a Construction and/or Facilities Management is strongly preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (ideally JD Edwards) is considered a significant asset
  • Certificate in, or working towards, Adult Training (CTP or CTDP)
  • Knowledge of eLearning tools and concepts is considered a strong asset
  • Strong diagnostic and communication skills both written and verbal, specifically presentation/facilitation skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills; proven ability to build credible collaborative relationships 
  • Prior project management experience is considered a strong asset
