Position Summary

Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a Jr. Project Manager/ Project Coordinator- Strategic Projects located in Markham, Ontario.  Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Projects, the successful candidate will assist with development of enterprise improvement initiatives and projects.  They will also act as a lead on executing small to medium complexity strategic projects from planning/start-up to closeout. Scope of the role will also include requirements analysis, facilitation of meetings, progress tracking, documentation, as well as development and implementation of recommendations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with selected team members, contractors and consultants to develop and execute project plans and associated project content
  • Assist in documentation and definition of project objectives, benefits, risks, critical success factors, requirements, policies, procedures and performance standards
  • Effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Track project milestones and deliverables
  • Develop and deliver project-specific content, progress reports, requirements documentation and presentations
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
  • Contribute to a collegial and collaborative work environment

Education & Skill Requirements

  • 5 + years of experience in Project Coordination and/or Management
  • Experience in the Construction industry considered an asset
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • PM certification is considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with various stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision
  • Experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative and professional environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
  • Experience with project management tools, CRM systems and database development highly desirable
  • Must be flexible to work additional hours and on weekends when necessary
  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance
