Job Description

​Reporting to the Division Manager – Fabrication, this position will be accountable for identifying opportunities within the realm of the Saskatoon Fabrication Facility capabilities and accurately estimate all aspects required for all potential industrial fabrication projects. This dual role will also be responsible for utilizing existing contacts and developing new relationships in order to increase the industrial fabrication business of the fabrication division. This job requires a target focused and forward-looking individual with regards to changing technologies and systems in order to remain up-to-date in maintaining our recognition as a fabrication industry leader.  

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strong understanding of pipefitting, steel fabrication, and welding technology
  • Must have direct industry knowledge and know how to speak the language
  • Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials and labour for industrial piping projects based on identified opportunities
  • Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations
  • Establish and maintain tendering process, set up cost monitoring, reporting systems and procedures
  • Researching, cold calling and setting up meetings with potential clients
  • Utilize proven sales methods to identify and solicit potential clients for future fabrication work
  • Meet with and develop impressionable relationships with potential clients to successfully understand their needs and specific requirements
  • Assess potential client needs and resources and recommend the appropriate solution
  • Develop and maintain communication in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of internal staff and customers
  • Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to potential clients
  • Price the agreement according the company pricing standards
  • Keep internal software and database up to date with sales activities
Desired Skills & Experience

  • Proficient with recognized estimating software and a working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Experience with fabrication and field
  • Must have established relationships and contacts in the industry
  • 5 years or more industrial fabrication experience involving business development, estimating and project management
  • Previous  business development experience
  • Strong writing skills and ability to help draft professional proposals
