Job Description

​We are looking for Maintenance Mechanics who will be working within the FMO Division. Mechanics will be responsible for day to day operations and work alongside an HVAC Mechanic.

Job Description

  • Performs physical inspections of building service rooms and areas both interior and exterior to ensure all equipment and building systems are functioning properly and to ensure that no unsafe or unacceptable building conditions exist. Verifies daily environmental controls to assure readings are within accepted standards
  • Performs periodic and seasonal preventive maintenance tasks and minor repairs to assure proper operating conditions and efficiency to extend equipment life and to maximize safety. Performs mechanical maintenance such as filter and belt changing, greasing, etc.
  • Must be able to utilize mobile technology for planned maintenance activities including navigating and completing maintenance tasks as assigned, providing notes and comments on completed work, identifying repair opportunities, taking pictures as required and ensuring minimal rework.
  • Reports all system, equipment and/or condition anomalies
  • Responds to emergencies and/or complaints from service desks. Notifies the Facility Manager immediately in the case of an emergency. In cases where complaints are received directly from tenants, these complaints must be brought to the attention of the Facility Supervisor, Manager and/or Service Desk immediately.
  • Becomes involved in inventory monitoring and assist in material purchasing
  • Key contributor to identify equipment or system repairs both preventive and reactive. Assist in project related for component or system replacements and repair.
  • Verifies the quality of the work carried out by the various sub-contractors
  • Reads meters as required. Analyses results for anomalies. Provides weekly summary report to the appropriate Facility Manager.
  • Works with and report to the Facility Manager on various system investigations as required
  • Keeps the Facility Manager fully informed on operational matters
  • Responds to after-hours emergency calls
  • Performs other related tasks that may reasonably be considered to be expected within the scope of services generally provided by a mechanical operations and maintenance service provider
  • Performs light duties such as sweeping, cleaning, painting, garbage removal, snow removal, assisting zone technicians, mechanics, etc.
Desired Skills & Experience


  • 3 or more years' experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or Handyman
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Follow instructions both written and verbal
  • Maintain a professional demeanour at all times with fellow employees and customers
  • A team player, committed to working in a quality environment
  • Ability to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays as required
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and work on a ladder or scaffold at various heights
