Job Description

​The Service Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test operation of burner management systems to diagnose faults
  • Repair and adjust system components, such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers, or remove and replace defective parts
  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing and heating systems in commercial and multi-residential buildings
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work and complete test and maintenance reports
  • Attend seminars and training sessions to remain current with industry advances
  • May prepare work estimates for clients
  • Accept and respond to repair service calls
  • Take part in the regular on-call schedule and work according to the divisional guidelines for such work
  • Follow the Collective Agreement
  • Other duties and activities as appropriate

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Completion of Gasfitter (B) Trade Certification Program or willing and able to enrol in the next available course
  • Cross Connection TQ required
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot commercial and industrial mechanical systems
  • Member of UA Local 170 or willing to join
  • Valid Provincial Driver's License – follow company vehicle policy
  • Bending and Lifting required; Lifting under 30 kgs
  • Must be able to work on ladder or scaffold at various heights
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
  • Must maintain clear and courteous two way radio and/or phone etiquette
  • Follows instructions both written and verbal
  • Must be a team player, committed to working in a quality environment
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor at all times with fellow employees and customer
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards
