Job Description

Position Summary:

The Manitoba Region of Black & McDonald is actively seeking three Building Operators in the Winnipeg area.  The primary responsibilities of the Building Operators are to respond to work orders and internal requests generated by our clients in a safe and efficient manner.  Duties will include performing routine inspections, ongoing maintenance, monitoring, repairs and maintaining safe conditions of the facility. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute routine inspections and maintenance according to contractual requirements
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance and repairs to building mechanical and HVAC systems
  • Perform shift tours and log readings (equipment status, temperatures and pressures)
  • Start up/shut down and preventive maintenance on major building equipment
  • All water treatment duties
  • Diesel, fire alarm and life safety tests
  • Maintain comfort levels to building environment and respond to environment/comfort complaints
  • Perform all types of general building maintenance and repairs
  • Electrical trouble shooting and minor repair
  • Maintenance and minor repairs of wiring devices and conduit
  • Maintenance and minor repairs of motor control centres, switches, breakers and switchboard components, fixtures, branch circuit wiring, transformers, capacitors, transfer schemes, electrical and pneumatic control devices
  • Perform daily regular duties, equipment adjustment and minor plumbing repairs
  • Utilize BAS system
  • Other tasks as agreed upon by the client and Black & McDonald
Desired Skills & Experience

Education & Skills Requirements:

  • Minimum 5th Class Power Engineer
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of complex building systems and equipment
  • Previous experience with BAS and HVAC systems
  • Excellent trouble shooting and interpersonal skills
  • Bending and Lifting Required; Lifting under 30 kgs
  • Must be able to work on ladder or scaffold at various heights and to work in confined spaces
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times with fellow employees and customers
  • Maintain clear and courteous two-way radio and/or phone etiquette
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards
  • Must be able to meet and pass the requirements of a Federal Security Clearance (PWGSC)
