Job Description

Position Summary

Black & McDonald Limited is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our Utility division team in Ottawa.

We are looking for someone who is eager to learn & gain experience within the construction field and become a key member of our project management team. This rewarding position involves working on a variety of construction projects and assisting project managers.

We will train the successful candidate by providing a mentor and a comprehensive training and development plan. We offer health and dental benefits and a company matching pension plan.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager to ensure project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards are in accordance with company policy and contract specifications are met
  • Comply with all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
  • Assist in planning and preparing construction schedules and milestones, and monitor progress against established timelines
  • Assist in preparing contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Assists in budget analysis, cost and margin projections, estimate project changes and impacts
  • Assist in developing and implementing quality control programs
  • Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients
  • Trade and subcontractor coordination
  • Document control

Desired Skills & Experience

Education & Skill Requirements

  • Construction Technical Diploma or Engineering Degree (i.e. civil or mechanical), and/or equivalent trade experience and knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of the construction industry
  • AutoCAD intermidate skills
  • Self-motivated individual able to work within deadlines.
  • College Diploma or University Degree
  • Candidates must be proficient in using MS applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in BlueBeam or Adobe
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
