Job Description

The Ottawa Office is seeking a full-time AutoCAD Technician who must be detail oriented and result focused. The AutoCAD Technician will be responsible for preparing CAD Drawings for Electrical and Mechanical design of commercial, institutional and industrial projects, as well as project based work such as planning, organizing, coordinating and supporting technical work flow on assigned engineering, procurement, and construction projects related to the electrical and mechanical field. The successful candidate will report directly to the Construction Division Manager.  

Job Description

  • Work with and prepare detailed diagrams, plans, drawings, reports and presentations
  • Coordinate, assess, and organize the work of various projects
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other resources to design the systems required for various projects
  • Assist with the identification and resolution of field technical issues
  • Assist in planning schedules and monitoring progress against established schedules
  • Assess the impacts of schedule changes and notify parties involved
  • Solicit and submit shop drawings between vendors and owners for approval
  • The successful candidate may be required to perform other duties as assigned
Desired Skills & Experience

Requirements

  • A College Diploma in Construction or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology or a University Degree in Engineering
  • 3-5 years' experience in the construction industry would be an asset
  • Experience in drafting practices for mechanical and electrical building systems
  • Knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications and building material
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Project and Outlook
  • Proficiency in the following design software: Revit, AutoCad, QuickPen PipeDesigner 3D,and QuickPen DuctDesigner 3D
  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to establish a strong working relationship with co-workers, vendors and clients
